Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide led Georgia 28-0 at one point just a few weeks ago. Since then, they’ve barely avoided a monster comeback from the Bulldogs, lost to Vanderbilt in Nashville and very nearly lost to South Carolina at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday.
And still, Alabama found a way to win. Following Alabama’s 27-25 win over the Gamecocks, DeBoer addressed media and admitted that the Crimson Tide are “sort of getting accustomed” to “down to the wire” finishes.
Kalen DeBoer: “Another game down to the wire, we’re sort of getting accustomed to those. I think there are certainly some things we can do to make sure they don’t get to that point. But we talk about finding a way to win.”

Now, a nail-biting finish is fine against Georgia when you win. It’s not fine against the likes of Vanderbilt and South Carolina, though it’s obvious both have taken steps from last year.
Simply put, there’s a lot of issues with this Alabama team right now. The Crimson Tide really struggled on defense Saturday, and Jalen Milroe had perhaps his worst game of the season. In a lot of ways, Saturday’s game against the Gamecocks was very similar to last week’s game against Vanderbilt – The Commodores simply had the better quarterback.
Alabama is back in action next weekend as the Tide travel to Knoxville to take on rival Tennessee.
