Kirk Herbstreit has come out with his top players in the country for Week 5, and the ESPN analyst named one player from the SEC, and a former SEC quarterback.
Jahmyr Gibbs, the Alabama running back who hit several big plays in the win over Arkansas, was among the players who were honored, along with former Auburn QB Bo Nix at Oregon.
Gibbs on Saturday rushed for a career-high 206 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries. He also caught 2 passes for 20 more yards for 226 all-purpose yards, and scored on fourth quarter touchdown runs of 72 and 76 yards. All that together meant he averaged 11.4 yards per rush.
Nix had 141 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground to go with 161 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He took off for 80 yards on a score, and weaved through Stanford defenders to reveal his speed.
