Lane Kiffin and the Florida Atlantic Owls won the Conference USA Championship Game on Saturday.

The Owls defeated North Texas 41-17, capping off an impressive 10-3 season.

Kiffin spoke with the media after the game and — as only he can do — managed to work Alabama into the conversation.

“Did you hear our fans at the end of the game?” he asked reporters. “Did you hear what they were saying? ‘We want Bama,’ … That’s what they were saying. I was like, ‘Not so fast. You ain’t ready for that.'”

A reporter followed up.

“So to be clear, you don’t want Bama?” he asked.

Kiffin then said he’d welcome the opportunity.

“I’d love to play Bama … I would,” he said. “I’d feel sorry for our players, but I’d like it.”

Kiffin has only gone up against Nick Saban as a head coach once. That was in 2009 when Alabama beat Tennessee 12-10 in Tuscaloosa. After all that has transpired since then, it would definitely be interesting to see Kiffin vs. Saban again.
