Former Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson is fitting right in with the Cleveland Browns during training camp.

Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks has really been impressed early in training camp with the former Tide backer.

“I love his athleticism,” Wilks said recently, via the team’s official website. “When you look at him out in space, he plays well, good change of direction. When you look at the matchups throughout this league, a lot of times you do not really have safeties that can cover these big tight ends so you need a linebacker that can run. That is the mode that we have right now. He fits that mode right there being able to cover a tight end as well.”

On Friday — and Day 8 of the Browns’ preseason camp, Wilson backed up his coordinator’s comments and made a head-turning play with a full-extension diving catch in which he returned for a touchdown.

With Wilson’s athleticism, instincts and ability, he’ll be a contributor for the Browns’ defense.

Remember, Wilson was once thought to be a top-round NFL Draft prospect; however, he fell to the fifth round where the Brown drafted him after he left Alabama following his junior season.

Wilson feels like a guy we’ll look back on and know he was drafted way too late for having so much talent. The Browns may have gotten a steal in the former Alabama tackler.
