Mark Dantonio comments on Alabama blowout loss in CFB Playoff
Rub some dirt on it, Michigan State.
That’s basically what Spartans coach Mark Dantonio had to tell his team after it lost to Alabama 38-0 in the semifinals of the 2015-16 College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide were dominant for the final three quarters of that game, finishing with an emphatic shutout (after allowing just 210 total yards) against their premier Big Ten opponent at the Cotton Bowl.
Michigan State was severely outplayed in just about every facet you can think of. So how does one move on after getting embarrassed on such a big stage?
You just do. Get over it.
Dantonio on the Bama blowout: My wife tells me Get over it, you lost. I said to our FB team. Don't hang your head. Let's get on w business.

Alabama has a real chance to enter the 2016 season as the No. 1 overall team in the country after claiming last year’s national title, and Michigan State should once again have the roster talent to compete with Ohio State and Michigan for the Big Ten East.
Any time you suffer an embarrassing loss, the top priority is making sure it doesn’t turn into a 3 or 4-game skid. With the off-season and a new bunch of kids for the new season, this threat is minimized. Focus on the first game, Furman… then Notre Dame is right around the corner. When the beat the Irish, everyone will feel a lot better. RTR!!!
I am a fan of Mark Dantonio. Yeah, he lost bad on a big stage, but the guy is a great coach. He’s the best coach the Spartans have ever had, including Saban.
GoVols
I’m trying to figure out where “go Vols” fits into any of this. Don’t you dare try to ride bamas coat tails, that’s disgraceful.
Lev – He is the most successful coach in Michigan St history…not the best. the best coach was good enough that he elevated Michigan St. (Through NCAA Sanctions from the previous administration) from a B1G doormat to a 10 win program beating Michigan and Ohio St in the same season then finishing it off by beating SOS’s Gators. He got a better offer and went to LSU…then the Dolphins…then he settled in at Alabama.
Dantonio is a damn good coach. Make no mistake but he is not the best coach in Michigan St. football history. That my friend is Nick Saban.
Sure Saban brought MSU back to one season of 10 wins, then left. Dantonio brought MSU back from 6 years not making any bowl game to 9 straight bowls, 2 Big Ten Titles, and a Rose bowl win which Saban neither ever won, as well now a college playoff appearance. Last December even Saban admitted that Dantonio did the job there he couldn’t. Sure Saban now is the best coach, but not at MSU.
Shouldn’t the headline read: Mark Dantonio comments on blowout loss to Alabama in the CFP and NOT: Mark Dantonio comments on Alabama blowout loss in the CFB?
