Mel Kiper Jr. speaks about Josh Jacobs, Mack Wilson's NFL Draft stock
On Tuesday afternoon, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. held a conference call with media members, discussing a number of 2019 NFL Draft prospects.
Among the players he discussed were Alabama RB Josh Jacobs and LB Mack Wilson, both of whom are getting some first-round buzz.
About Jacobs, Kiper noted that he split carries, which NFL teams are starting to view as a good thing, since it means there’s less wear on his body:
Mel Kiper Jr. on Josh Jacobs: "Really his attempts, his carries for his career and his rushing yards for his career are basically like one season for a lot of running backs, which means he’s got a lot of tread left on the tires. He hasn’t been beaten up. He waited his turn."

About Wilson, Kiper said he thinks the talented defender has slipped out of Round 1 and is looking more like a Day 2 pick:
Mel Kiper Jr.: "I thought Mack Wilson back in August would be a guy who would be a solid mid-first rounder and follow in the footsteps of all those other great inside linebackers coming out of Alabama, but he didn’t have the year expected. … I’m projecting him more as a two."

Both players will have a chance to improve their draft stock at the NFL Combine and at Alabama’s pro day. We’ll see if Kiper sticks with his projections as April draws nearer.
