Michael Penix Jr. is one of the top supporters for new Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer. Penix has plenty of history with the former Washington coach, as the duo also worked together at Indiana before Penix transferred.

He offered Alabama fans something of a preview of what to expect from a DeBoer-coached team.

“Man, he is an amazing coach, man,” Penix Jr. said on Mobile, Alabama’s WNSP. “He’s gonna push the guys extremely hard. He’s gonna make sure every player is 100% prepared come game day and man and especially on the offensive side of the ball, man, they’re gonna light it up. The offense that he installs, it’s amazing, it’s a lot of pushing the ball down the field but obviously being smart with it and the timing of the plays, it’s perfect.”

Penix was in Mobile as Senior Bowl practices begin leading up to the game on Saturday. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Penix as the No. 4 quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft class, and No. 10 overall prospect.

Penix also offered a prediction for DeBoer winning a national championship. Can he do it within 3 years at Alabama?

“Yeah, I believe so, he can do it,” Penix said.
