Josh Hubbard is returning for another season at Mississippi State. The Bulldog standout confirmed his plans to play for MSU in 2026-27 in a video message posted to social media on Friday.

“Playing at Humphrey Coliseum has meant a lot to me,” Hubbard said in the video. “It’s very important to me in my life to play here for my home state in this arena. Growing up seeing all the highlights that’s happened in this arena, it’s definitely just been a blessing.

“The kind of memories I’ve made in Starkville will last a lifetime, with friends, family. Here in Starkville, the connections I’ve built, it’s just been a full circle moment for me and my family. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support over the years. Spending your money on tickets and just supporting us, you know, wins or loss, no matter what happens, being behind (us), (having) our back.

“With that being said, let’s call 12 one more time. Let’s run it back. With that being said, let’s call (No.) 12 one more time. Let’s run it back.”

Hubbard has been Mississippi State’s top scorer in all 3 seasons with the Bulldogs. In 2025-26, Hubbard posted the highest average of his career, 22.1 points per game.

Though Hubbard was spectacular, it was a rough year for the Bulldogs as a whole. MSU posted a record of 13-19 this past season, missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Chris Jans.

Had Hubbard entered the transfer portal, plenty of teams would have been lining up to add the prolific scorer. We’ll see if Mississippi State can take advantage of returning one of the SEC’s most productive players and get things back on track in 2026-27.
