This weekend was a great one for Alabama as Nick Saban’s program achieved its latest victory over a ranked team, defeating No. 22 Texas A&M by a 45-23 margin in front of a happy Tuscaloosa crowd.

Among those in attendance to watch the game was the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, Kayvon Thibodeaux. The five-star prospect from southern California made the long journey across the country for an official visit to Tuscaloosa for the Texas A&M game.

Based on what he had to say coming off that visit, it must have gone really well for the elite 2019 prospect.

Check out this tweet from Thibodeaux, which he sent out on Monday morning. While the Oaks Christian standout may live and play thousands of miles away from Alabama, he does have a strong connection to the state via his great-grandfather. During his visit to Tuscaloosa, Thibodeaux asked Coach Saban to sign a photo of his great-grandfather, a Birmingham native, which he says made his grandmother happy.

Could winning grandma’s heart by key in Alabama signing the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect? That remains to be seen but it certainly can’t hurt. The 6-foot-4, 239-pound prospect has offers from basically every program in the country including teams much closer to home in USC and Oregon.
