It is commonly assumed that Alabama is the most talented team in the country year in and year out.

However, in a Friday article on NFL.com, draft analyst Lance Zierlein said that was not the case. He believes the Ohio State Buckeyes have a more talented roster this year, at least in terms of players who can eventually get to the NFL.

Zierlein ranked Alabama at No. 2 in a piece detailing the “Top 25 CFB teams with most NFL talent in 2017.” Ohio State took the top spot with Clemson, Washington and USC rounding out the Top 5.

While the Crimson Tide weren’t at the very top of the list, Zierlein didn’t have much negative to say about Nick Saban’s team.

“The defense is loaded with quality talent. Da’Ron Payne is a monster in the making, but players like Anthony Averett, Da’Shawn Hand, Christian Miller and Rashaan Evans could see their draft stock rise dramatically if they can play to their potential this season,” the article stated. “Wideout Calvin Ridley is the headliner on offense, but the running back and wide receiver spots are full of depth. Right tackle Jonah Williams will head into the season as one of the best linemen in the conference as just a sophomore.”
