NFL draft analyst Bucky Brooks is not a huge fan of Alabama’s Mac Jones.

Earlier this week, Brooks re-evaluated his top five quarterback prospects for this cycle, and Jones landed at No. 5.

Here’s his list with less than a month to go before the NFL draft:

  1. Trevor Lawrence
  2. Justin Fields
  3. Zach Wilson
  4. Trey Lance
  5. Mac Jones

Brooks tweeted over the weekend that he doesn’t believe Jones is a first round talent.

The good news for Jones is that many seem to disagree with this evaluation. Things could still change, but the San Fransisco 49ers are currently expected to take Jones at No. 3 overall.

However, Brooks did compliment Jones in the latest episode of the Move The Sticks podcast. He also explains why Jones’ skillset is appealing to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“I think the Niners are fascinated and captivated by Mac Jones,” Brooks said, via 247Sports. “Mac Jones is very, very impressive when you have an opportunity to sit down with him and talk to him. When you watch how he processes things and goes from the board to the field, he can spit it out exactly the way coaches want it communicated. And so, I think Kyle Shanahan sees Mac Jones as a higher-end joy stick — one who understands the offense, one who understands how to get through all the progressions from one to two, the three, the four to utilize the entire field. And so, it expands the playbook for Kyle Shanahan because he still has someone at QB1 who knows how to go through the process of getting through all the reads.”

Jones has drawn comparisons to Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan — who almost won a Super Bowl with Shanahan as his offensive coordinator.

The NFL draft is April 29-May 1.
