The one notable injury following a scrimmage on Saturday for Alabama was another injury to a running back.

Coach Nick Saban said Jerome Ford suffered an ankle sprain and may be out for a week. This news comes after the Crimson Tide lost 5-star RB Trey Sanders likely for the entire season because of a foot injury that would require surgery.

Sanders was ranked as the nation’s No. 1 running back and the No. 6 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

While Ford was expected to be a third-string running back, it means the Crimson Tide are down two of their five main running backs two weeks before the season opener against Duke.

Najee Harris, Brian Robinson Jr. and Kelian Robinson are the remaining healthy running backs.
