With college football rapidly approaching, most of the position battles for Alabama have already been settled.

However, one spot of the depth chart still remains unclaimed. The Crimson Tide still hasn’t made a decision on whether Paul Tyson or Jalen Milroe will be Bryce Young’s backup.

“I think both those guys are in competition for the position,” Saban recently told reporters, per On3 Sports. “Paul’s done a nice job. He’s got a good understanding of the offense. He’s very bright. And Jalen (Milroe) is a young player who’s still learning the offense but a very talented guy. Both guys are working hard, and both guys are doing a good job. Hopefully, they’ll continue to progress and hopefully we’ll be able to get them some experience somewhere along the line, as well.”

Tyson, the great-grandson of Bear Bryant, is a sophomore from Trussville, Alabama. Coming out of high school, Tyson was a four-star prospect. During his high school career, Tyson threw for over 6,000 yards passing with 69 touchdowns.

On the other hand, Milroe is a true freshman from Katy, Texas. His senior year of high school he threw for 1,136 yards passing and 13 touchdowns.
