Nick Saban and No. 11 Alabama will aim for a 5-1 record when they travel to take on Texas A&M this weekend. However, Saban is still imploring for more out of the Crimson Tide and wants to see the squad reach its full potential.

During a recent press conference, Saban concurred when asked if Alabama is still a work in progress heading into Week 6.

“Yeah, I think so, I think we’re getting better every week,” Saban said. “Our level of consistency has not been what it needs to be in terms of I use the term shooting ourselves in the foot a little too much and if we can eliminate those bad plays, which sometimes we’re creating for ourselves.”

Saban adds that limiting mental mistakes will be paramount as the competition continues to rise.

“Not necessarily the other team creating because when you play good teams, they’re going to create enough issues for you,” Saban said. “So if you can eliminate the issues you’re causing for yourself then you’re going to have a better chance to be more consistent.”

Alabama’s lone loss this season came against visiting Texas in Week 2. Since then, the Crimson Tide has reeled off 3 consecutive victories against South Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

Alabama at Texas A&M is slated for a 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff on Saturday (CBS).
