Nick Saban recalls his decision to adapt his offensive philosophy at Alabama
Back in Nick Saban’s day, college football was won with defense, running the ball and strong special teams play.
Times, they are a changin’.
That point was made obvious to even the most casual of SEC football fans in recent seasons as offenses in the league have been busy lighting up scoreboards around the South. But not that long ago, the college football landscape was much different and it was the coaches that adapted best that are having the most success now.
In a recent appearance at the Louisiana High School Coaches Association coaches clinic, Saban shared his thoughts on the evolution of the game and his need to change his offense — which he did with the hire of Lane Kiffin back in 2014.

Of course, Lane Kiffin caught his name being dropped and chimed in response.
