The Alabama Crimson Tide are losing TEs Irv Smith Jr. (NFL Draft) and Hale Hentges (graduation) this offseason, so they’ll need to find a replacement before the 2019 season.
With how busy the NCAA Transfer Portal has been this offseason, it’s possible the Tide could bring in a graduate transfer before Week 1 to fill that spot.
On Wednesday, coach Nick Saban did say that the Tide would have their eyes on transfer tight ends as spring ball approaches:
Saban on where Alabama might look for transfer help after NSD: "If we saw some opportunity to get a more seasoned player out there at (tight end), that's something we could look at."

With QB Tua Tagovailoa returning, finding a reliable outlet at the tight end position will be crucial.
We’ll see if the Tide can find someone to fill this role, and perhaps Saban’s comments on Wednesday will spark a grad transfer to check out Tuscaloosa.
