Henry Ruggs III had a solid start to the Citrus Bowl, but was helped off the field in the third quarter and didn’t return.

The Alabama wide receiver went to the injury tent, and later the locker room, after his head hit the turf. Coach Nick Saban said after the game that Ruggs is in concussion protocol. Ruggs finished with two catches for 27 yards, including one for 25, which came over the middle as he turned up field, in Alabama’s 35-16 victory over Michigan.

Entering the Citrus Bowl, Ruggs was third on Alabama’s career touchdown receptions list with 24, one behind Jerry Jeudy. Ruggs owned the team-long rush (75 yards) and the second-longest reception (81 yards) this season.

He made 38 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, as he averaged a team-high 18.9 yards per catch to rank 24th nationally with 26 of his 38 receptions going for a Tide first down or touchdown.
