Nick Saban had Brian Robinson as his workhorse running back in 2021. And, so far this preseason, it looked like the rookie with the Washington Commanders was working his way into a big role for his NFL squad.
But, on Sunday, it was revealed that Robinson was shot multiple times as the victim of an attempted robbery. He is in stable condition and recovering well, according to Washington coach Ron Rivera.
On Monday, Saban was asked about his former player. He said he has reached out to Robinson, but hasn’t connected with him yet. He added that the team’s thoughts and prayers are with Robinson:
Saban on Brian Robinson: I did reach out to him, I didn't get him. … I think he's doing well relative to the information we have, even to the point that they think he might be able to come back and play this season.

Saban: "Our thoughts and prayers are out to B-Rob and his family."

As Saban mentioned, it seems like Robinson is doing well and might be able to come back and play this season.
Obviously, his health is the most important thing, but after the preseason he had with the Commanders, the future on the field is bright for Robinson, too.
