Nick Saban is heading into another year with ESPN. On New Year’s Day, he did some reflecting on his new life at ESPN, and once again used a word he’s not supposed to say on the network.
“I think a lot of people can relate to this, you leave a profession where you work for 50 years and go do something else,” Saban said reflecting on an impactful 2024. “And then having the opportunity to become a part of GameDay and look at the game from 1,000 feet and work with you guys who have helped me tremendously. And then my best moment was being able to call bullshit on Sark and Kirby.”
Fans were amused throughout the season that Saban used some words, such as the above instance, that typically aren’t said live on ESPN.

Saban “called BS” on his former assistant coaches ahead of the SEC Championship Game. While Steve Sarkisian and Kirby Smart were on set in Atlanta, Rece Davis how the coaches balanced making their own adjustments and anticipating the opponent’s potential adjustments. Saban was unfiltered sharing his thoughts on their answers.
Saban delivered many memorable moments on GameDay throughout 2024. Based on Saturday’s show, he’s not slowing down in 2025.
