Alabama head coach Nick Saban praised upcoming Week 8 opponent Texas A&M during his weekly press conference Monday.

Saban said the Aggies “probably present as many issues as any team we’ve faced all year” and called freshman running back Trayveon Williams the “best back” the Tide has faced all season, as well as “the real deal.”

The coach also spoke highly of A&M quarterback Trevor Knight, who he called an “outstanding athlete” and credited for being “very capable of running.”

“They have a lot of QB runs where he’s made explosive plays,” Saban added.

The coach also called the Tide’s 49-10 win over Tennessee last weekend its “most complete game to date.” Saban challenged his team to “either build on it or rest on it” moving forward.

He also credited freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts’ rapid development early in his college career. “One of the easiest guys to manage…that I’ve ever been around at that age,” Saban said of Hurts. “He’s very self-critical. When you bring something up to him, he’s like ‘I get that.'”

Saban also revealed starting guard Alphonse Taylor is still “day-to-day” and will do “individual stuff” but be a no contact participant as the team continues to evaluate his concussion status.
