Nick Saban appreciated how Alabama players prepared for the Sugar Bowl, and it paid off in a dominant 45-20 win over Kansas State on Saturday.

At the post-game podium following the confetti cannons, Saban recapped the game with Tom Luginbill of ESPN.

“I think the guys that were here today, the team that was here today really is representative of what the University of Alabama and our program is all about,” Saban said. “They all made a commitment, made a great sacrifice to prepare for this game, and worked hard and certainly played well today and I’m really, really proud of them.”

Saban was asked for what it says about the football team when the best players are the most accountable players.

“That’s when you have the best team,” Saban said. “You have guys who are great players who care about their teammates. They set a great example and they do a great job in terms of being leaders who care about their teammates. So I’d also like to thank our fans, this is a great group of fans that we have here today, who supported the team that represents the university.”
