Nick Saban and Alabama got a gem out of the transfer portal in Jermaine Burton.

The wide receiver has recorded 749 yards and 7 touchdowns on the year, emerging as one of the top offensive weapons for the Tide. In the Iron Bowl, Burton had 107 yards and a touchdown.

On Monday during his press conference, Saban had high praise for Burton, complimenting his production this season.

“Jermaine has done a really good job for us and we continue to harp on consistency and performance all the time,” Saban said. “He’s been very productive for us. We played against him and we thought he was a good player when we played against him, so that was probably the reason for our interest in him to start with.”

But Saban believes Burton still has room to grow, just like every other college athlete.

“He hasn’t disappointed us with his performance on the field and we continue to work on his ability to stay focused on, do your job well, create value every play in terms of what you do and be consistent in your performance,” Saban said. “He’s certainly made strides in that direction.”

Alabama is looking for a big game from Burton and the rest of the offense this weekend as the Tide take on Georgia in the SEC Championship.
