Nick Saban says he thinks OC Bill O'Brien has 'done a pretty good job'
Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien was a target of fan criticism for the Crimson Tide’s narrow win over LSU, but Nick Saban said on his weekly radio show that he thinks his play-caller is doing well in Year 1 at UA.
“I actually think he’s done a pretty good job,” Saban said of O’Brien when asked about the OC coaching from the booth instead of on the field.
Alabama defeated LSU 20-14, snapping the Tide’s 34-game streak of scoring 30 points or more.
“I think we all had a bad game last week,” Saban continued. “(O’Brien will) be the first to say that, and me too. Because we’re responsible for what happens on the field, and it wasn’t good — especially on that side of the ball.
“But I don’t think that’s a reason to question what we’ve done all year. We are the No. 1 scoring team in the SEC, I think. Last week was not good.”
Saban is correct in the SEC scoring offense stats. Alabama is averaging 43 points per game. Georgia is second best with 38.4 points per game.
