Nick Saban knows what to expect out a successful spring game, and that includes participation from the fans.

“For us to have a great crowd on Saturday, regardless of what the weather is, I think sends a huge message,” Saban said.

Saban referred to what he believes really helped get this program off the ground was the first A-Day game where more than 90,000 people showed up. Saban said that sent a message to the whole nation of how committed the fans and program were.

In terms of on-the-field expectations, Saban said the spring game should be an extension of the fundamentals the Crimson Tide developed throughout the spring. Though it will be thin on details, as the plan is to always to simplify the playbook to not show opponents plays and schemes that could crop up later in the season.

“To be able to see the experience and growth of the players who are involved in the spring game and to find out how many guys on our team can play winning football,” Saban said.

About returners, Saban suggested that JoJo Earle, Jermaine Burton, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Jahmyr Gibbs and Aaron Anderson are all possible options at either punt or kickoff returner.
