Paul Finebaum is highly impressed with No. 8 Alabama’s 42-28 victory vs. visiting No. 14 LSU last Saturday. With the victory, Alabama strengthened its hold on the SEC West as they aim for a trip to the conference game.

Alabama sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe put together a masterful display on the ground with 155 yards and 4 touchdowns in addition to passing for 219 yards.

Meanwhile, the Alabama defense held LSU’s nation-best offense to 28 points, the lowest by any opponent against the Tigers other than Florida State in the season opener.

The ESPN analyst shared during a recent appearance on McElroy And Cubelic In The Morning that Alabama looks like a legit national title contender now after some early season struggles.

“There’s no question this team is capable of winning a national championship. I think before the season I thought they were perhaps a Playoff team. But Saturday night put the exclamation point on that project. They’re capable. The rest of it is pretty self-evident,” Finebaum said. “They played brilliantly and they did it at the right time. I think Saban said afterwards about it being a complete game. They’ve always been capable of that. They just haven’t done it.”

Alabama is 3-1 in games vs. ranked opponents this season, with wins vs. Ole Miss, Tennessee, and LSU. The Crimson Tide close the regular season with contests vs. Kentucky, Chattanooga, and Auburn.

Alabama at Kentucky this weekend is slated for a 12 p.m. EST kickoff (ESPN).
