Rece Davis is looking forward to Nick Saban joining ESPN’s “College GameDay” and he believes the addition will be an improvement to the show.

Speaking on the “College GameDay” podcast, Davis shared his expectations for the former Alabama coach, and added that Saban has already proven himself on TV. Davis said the key is to keep moving, and adding Saban to a car dealership, or a TV show proves “you best not stand still.”

“Nick has already shown a remarkable ability to slide into that seat and provide expert analysis. He handles the tapes well,” Davis noted. “He understands how to speak in headlines because he is a gifted public speaker – and not just to his team. If you’ve heard him any other format, it’s really quite an impressive thing. So I don’t have any doubt at all that he will thrive in this role.”

ESPN’s Pete Thamel added on the show that he’s already heard that Saban is “100 miles an hour into draft prep.”

Davis then openly brainstormed about sharing advice with Saban that Davis learned from the late Indiana coach Bob Knight.

“My boy, you’re in charge out there and don’t you forget it,” Davis recalled Knight telling him. “You’ll be leading us and we’ll go where you say we’re going. I think Nick would be wise to remember that as he embarks on his television career.”

Davis then laughed, and reiterated that Saban would offer plenty of Xs and Os, but also dry humor to the show.
