After losing LBs Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis for the season in Week 1, the Alabama Crimson Tide are trying some new players at the position this week.

Earlier this week, it was reported that elite 2017 defensive line recruit LaBryan Ray was working with the linebackers and, on Wednesday, another defensive lineman was spotted with the injury-ravaged unit.

According to reports, DL Da’Shawn Hand was working with the outside linebackers during the media viewing period of Wednesday’s practice:

Hand, a 6-4, 296-pound defender, has the potential to be a beast at the new position if the Crimson Tide decide to play him there.

It’s possible Hand could be used in the style the team used Tim Williams last year, though a better comparison for Hand’s body size is Courtney Upshaw, who played the position for Alabama from 2008 to 2011.

Alabama hosts Fresno State on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central time and can be seen on ESPN2.
