Alabama could be dealing with another big loss to the injury bug heading into the heart of the SEC schedule.

AL.com’s Matt Zenitz is reporting that preseason All-SEC DE LaBryan Ray’s injury is feared to be long-term and potentially season-ending. Ray left Saturday’s South Carolina game with an apparent foot/ankle injury. Qualifiers “feared” and “possibly” would indicate that the injury is still being evaluated, but it doesn’t sound good for Ray.

If the report, Ray would be the fourth projected significant contributor to be lost for the 2019 season. Since the start of fall camp, Alabama has lost true freshman RB Trey Sanders, LB Dylan Moses and LB Josh McMillon.

A former 5-star recruit, Ray recorded seven tackles in Alabama’s first two games (Duke, New Mexico State). He had two tackles against the Gamecocks before leaving the game. If Ray is out, freshman Justin Eboigbe is the backup on the depth chart.

Ray’s injury is a developing story that SDS will be following closely.
