Report: Former Alabama LB Rolando McClain gains 40 pounds on 'purple drank'
The turbulent story of former Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain has taken yet another downward turn.
According to a report from Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, McClain has gained 40 pounds whilst frequently consuming the controversial libation ‘purple drank.’ Suspended for the first 10 games of the 2016 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys defender has also not shown up to the team’s training camp in Oxnard, Calif.
The 6-foot-4, 259-pound linebacker was originally drafted in the first round by the Oakland Raiders in 2010. After a short spell with the Raiders (and an even shorter stint with the Baltimore Ravens), McClain briefly retired at 23 years old before making a comeback with the Cowboys. His career was resurrected for the past two seasons, as he became a galvanizing force for Dallas in the heart of its defense.
With this latest turn of events, there’s no telling as to what McClain’s future with the Cowboys truly holds.
Purple drank is too sweet.
I am an Auburn fan, but was always impressed with McClain’s play. I was actually on a flight with him from Dallas to Birmingham about a month and a half ago and he appeared to be in great shape. I hope this article isn’t true.
Still don’t get how athletes are so dumb. Millions of dollars to play once a week and stay out of trouble and you can’t? Give me that opportunity and I’d make sure not to be anywhere near trouble. Now, this isn’t that bad, but this dude needs to get it together.
It’s not just the once a week game. There are camps, practices, meetings, endless film, all that time away from friends and family.ImI’m not justifying bad behavior but I can see how one might need to blow off steam now and then.
It’s a dang shame. He has so much potential, yet he’s throwing it all away.
