Rounding into Playoff form? Fans, media weigh Alabama's dominant win knowing bigger games are ahead
After Kentucky made a laundry list of mistakes in the first half, and Alabama built a huge lead, the Crimson Tide coasted to a 63-3 win over Kentucky on Saturday.
Midway through the game, the Crimson Tide inserted backups and third-string players to play out the game, the latest in a long list of dominance. It was the 20th straight game with at least 35 points, and the 30th straight win over the SEC East, not to mention coach Nick Saban’s 96th straight win against an unranked opponent.
It turned into a dominant win after Kentucky had the ball near the Alabama goal line trailing 7-3 in the first half.
QB Mac Jones was 16-for-24 passing for 230 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. DeVonta Smith had nine catches for 144 yards and two scores.
As the game became out of hand, fans and media looked forward to the College Football Playoff matchup, or the likely matchup against Florida in the SEC Championship Game.
Here is a sampling of that reaction:
Alabama still has some issues defensively and will likely need another skill guy on offense to step up & become a contributor when it comes to Florida & the playoff. Would prefer for it to be a WR but maybe they just target #19 Billingsley more.

Watching Alabama destroy Kentucky with 2nd and 3rd stringers is really staggering. This team is one that may go undefeated and beat every team by 3 TDS.

Alabama is fine for now but Kentucky is nowhere near the level of Florida or even Auburn. One of those games is a tossup, and the other invites factors that no God or otherworldly entity could ever possibly explain in a billion years. Buckle up.
