Alabama received the news that it had been waiting for on Tuesday night after its loss on Saturday to LSU. Unsurprisingly, the Tigers were slotted No. 1 in the new College Football Playoff rankings. The Crimson Tide, though, slipped from No. 3 to No. 5, as Georgia leapfrogged them to No. 4 in the rankings.

Of course, there was plenty of reaction from the social media world as the news was announced live on ESPN, some coming from Tide fans and some coming from college football fans in general. The main argument brought up was the fact that Georgia found itself at No. 4 with its lone loss coming to South Carolina, while Alabama found itself at No. 5 with its lone loss coming to a powerful LSU team.

Others were just happy in general to see the Tide on the outside looking in, especially without a way to get into the SEC Championship Game, a de facto play-in game for the CFP in recent years, barring a slip-up by the Tigers.
