Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class is now ranked No. 1 in the country. The 247Sports Composite has updated its rankings and UA is now ahead of Ohio State, the previous top class.

The Composite is industry-generated, factoring in rankings from 247Sports’ competitors Rivals and ESPN. Rivals has updated many of its player rankings, prompting the update to the Composite, the most commonly cited recruiting rankings among unaffiliated media outlets.

Alabama and Ohio State’s classes are close in numbers. Both programs have 4 five-stars and 11 four-stars committed. The Crimson Tide have 4 three-stars compared to OSU’s 3 three-stars. The extra three-star makes up for the difference in 19 commitments (Alabama) to 18 commitments (Ohio State). UA’s Composite score of 299.49 tops Ohio State’s 298.27.

The Crimson Tide class has experienced a summer surge. In early May, Alabama’s 2021 class was ranked No. 57 on the Composite. Texas legacy Tommy Brockmeyer, Alabama’s highest-ranked commitment with a Composite score of 0.9972, pledged to the Crimson Tide on July 17.
