Ty Perine has decided to remove his name from the transfer portal, and retire from football.
That news comes from Tony Tsoukalas of Bama Central, who reported that Perine would not play for Alabama next season after he graduates in May. Perine entered the transfer portal 9 days ago. The specialist has not seen the field since the 2019 season when he averaged 44.7 yards on 13 punts.
Here is the Alabama bio for the junior from Prattville, Alabama.
2019: Walk-on specialist who worked to earn a spot at punter … assumed punting duties midway through the Tennessee matchup … a Freshman All-SEC selection by the league coaches … punted 13 times for 581 yards on the year … averaging 44.7 yards per boot with three punts of 50-plus yards … selected as one of the special teams players of the week by the UA coaching staff for his play against Tennessee in his first career game. Tennessee: Took over punting duties for the Crimson Tide midway through the game … totaled 93 yards on two punts with a long of 51 … forced a fair catch on one punt while helping to make a potentially touchdown-saving tackle on his other boot … earned special teams player of the week honors from the Alabama coaches for his efforts against the Vols. Arkansas: Got the start at punter for the Tide … asked to punt twice, totaling 95 yards on his two boots … had a long of 49 with his other punt being downed inside the Razorback 20-yard line. LSU: Totaled 146 yards on three punts for an average of 48.7 yards per boot … sent two punts 50-plus yards with a season-high tying 51-yard kick. Mississippi State: Punted twice for 79 yards with a long of 42 … dropped one kick inside the 20 to pin the Bulldogs deep in their own territory. Western Carolina: Asked to punt once on the day, posting a 33-yard boot. Auburn: Combined for 135 yards on his three punts for an average of 45.0 yards per boot … sent a long punt of 47 on the day.
Some news on Ty Perine: While Ty Perine has removed his name from the portal, he will not play for Alabama next season. He is retiring from football and will graduate from Alabama in May.
