5-star quarterback Ty Simpson announces college commitment
Following a long recruitment that featured scholarship offers from nearly every college football program of significance, the nation’s highest-ranked uncommitted quarterback prospect in the 2022 recruiting class is finally ready to announce his college commitment.
After initially planning on announcing his college of choice last week, snow in west Tennessee delayed his ceremony, five-star quarterback Ty Simpson is ready to inform the world where he plans on playing his college football.
During a Friday ceremony at his Westview High School in Martin, Tenn., five-star prospect Ty Simpson announced his commitment to Alabama.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Simpson made his pick over finalists Clemson, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
The son of a college head coach, Jason Simpson is the head coach at the University of Tennessee-Martin, the five-star prospect’s football IQ is as renowned as his accolades on the field. He’s said in interviews he’s enjoyed the recruiting process simply to pick the brains of the elite head coaches and offensive coordinators college football has to offer.
That should tell you something about the quarterback that just announced his college decision.
Formerly rated as a dual-threat passer, Simpson is now rated as a five-star pro-style passer and the nation’s No. 27 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Last season, Simpson passed for 1,888 yards with 20 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He also rushed for 311 yards and four more scores.
Here is a glimpse at what Simpson brings to the next level as he’s been dominant for Westview in recent seasons.
The rich get richer
and the poorer get the picture
fell out of my seat Hog
Look it’s not our fault that Ty Simpson’s sister goes to the University of Alabama
Roll “Ty”de! And welcome!
this kid is already in elite 11 do not be surprised if he comes out #1 out of elite 11 this kid has got it
Sorry UT.
BOOM! We needed a QB for ‘22 and we got him committed to Bama!
eh nobody in TN was expecting him to commit here. Maybe a little flicker of hope in a distant corner but not really. Unfortunately we will be recruit strapped for a while and likely not even capable of any smack talking. Too bad. Thats what a long history of poor AD’s will do for you. I wish the kid limited success :)
I was hoping he would choose Clemson, but good QB snag for Bamma
Good get Bama. He is almost as good as LSU commit Walker Howard!
Heard Clay Travis say a few weeks ago, that he spent 30 inutes talking to Simpson at a game. He said UT fans should be excited after what he heard the kid say.
I hate a homer. Just because you want something, you make it look better than reality. I agree with Travis on a lot of tings, but he is still one of those Vol/Titan homers that gets under your skin.
you know Travis is a Vandy grad? he hates UT
Tider, Clay is a Vandy grad, but he does not “hate UT”. He’s an incredibly huge fan, and is open about it. No idea how you could think otherwise…
I wish him nothing but the best of Luck… (I don’t blame him for do what he thinks is best for him)
Poor hillbillies. The dumpster fire rages!
Don’t feel sorry 4 us can’t wait till you guys quit winning everything…… oh yeah still never happened. State of GA puts out so many top lvl kids and what do ya got?
Consolation prize?
Yeah all those Leghumper fans keep drinking Kirby’s kool-aid. Not since 1980 and the clock is still ticking….
At least UGA doesn’t resort to McDonalds bags… Once again Tenn swings and misses. Happens so much you wouldn’t know a win if it bit you.
Always the bridesmaid
And Dabo will then get Klubnick.
Concerning Clemson…I expect their program to trend down some(not because of Trevor leaving). There has been a lot of staff movement within the program(something Datboi has not had to deal with in prior years). They will still blitz thru the ACC, but post season will be a disappoint for those orange-clad fans.
44 – 16
Lol. That’s pathetic. Now do the Bama vs Florida scores over the past decade. And hey, they may not have won that one but at least they didn’t THROW away their chance to get there like Wilson did.
No state pride I thought rootin for the underdog was American
We haven’t been relevant in a minute. I mean, for us to even be in it shows something. Yes, we all knew it was a bama/Clemson race. Can’t fault the guy.
With Biden as President America IS the underdog.
Everybody likes underdogs. Think about it it’s better to pretend to be nice and soft but secretly kick ass then to just be a rude bully that everyone hates.
With Trump as president, America was attacked by a bunch of ignorant rednecks.
Can’t fault his choice. Would have been nice to get him, but I fully understand why he chose Alabama over UT. Such is the state of UT at this time.
He will be in the portal within 2 years of his arrival in Testicaloosa
If that comes to pass; that means he wasn’t good enough. Saban only plays the best players.
I don’t think you realize that you just complimented Bama.
And yet he has stated himself that he isn’t going anywhere even if it means just one season as the starter like Mac Jones. Maybe you should learn to read more before offering your ignorant thoughts.
I expect nothing less.
Wish the kid nothing but the best, but my prediction is starting QB at Sanford in 2-3 years. Don’t sweat this one Vol fans
If playing time and not development for the NFL was his main concern, he’d have gone to Tennessee. I mean at this point my 5 year old niece could probably earn a starting spot there seeing how many players abandoned that sinking ship. Also he did an interview in which he stated he knows he won’t start for at least two years and he’s fine with that considering how well it’s worked out for Mac Jones. At some point rival fans are just going to have to deal with the fact that players with a championship drive and NFL aspirations would rather spend two years riding the bench and developing at Bama under Saban than getting all the playing time they could want at far, far, far lesser programs like Tennessee.
Saban wasn’t the one developing the QBs. Let’s see how the replacement for the punk and the drunk does.
And my five year old grandniece could develop the highest paid college players that call T-town home. The kid was going to play for McPruitt, then goes to Bama. Easy math.
Oops, Samford
Why did they change him from dual threat? Did his legs fall off?
Maybe his passing just got better.
Interesting. It suggests that “dual-threat” is code for “not so great at passing.” I’m not sure that’s wrong, but a true dual-threat, to me, is the rare QB who can do both at a high level.
Tennessee still holds the winners of life title if that makes y’all feel better.
Nice one blep. Haven’t heard that before. With a name like blep guess you can’t expect much though.
Hopefully he keeps that commitment in place. Roll Tide !
He hasn’t played a single down of SC football yet. The SC will have numerous other quarterbacks will will look Great so save The parade for this young man for the end of the 2021 season and will see how he looks then. 00 wait now you’re saying he might not play as a freshman, Well if that’s true how good can he be
Neither Mac Jones or Joe Burrow started as freshmen and they had two of the best seasons for any college QB in history. Your comments have always been dumb but “00 wait now you’re saying he might not play as a freshman, Well if that’s true how good can he be” simply proves you know nothing about football.
I must say, i kinda feel Tn right there cause if, Ty Simpson went to Tn they might actually have a good year but nope he goes to Alabama (of course)
