Washington’s Kalen DeBoer is reportedly set to succeed Nick Saban as Alabama’s next head coach.

While that news has not officially been announced, the Huskies have already started losing key players from their defense to the transfer portal. Defensive backs Mishael Powell and Jabbar Muhammad have both reportedly entered the transfer portal in wake of DeBoer’s decision to leave Washington.

It’s still very early in the process, but it’s possible Powell and Muhammad could consider Alabama amongst their options in the transfer portal with DeBoer at the helm.

It’s still too early to know what Alabama’s 2024 will look like following Saban’s decision to retire. Every player on Alabama’s roster has a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal because of the change at head coach.

Powell and Muhammad were both key players for the Huskies this past season. Powell recorded 38 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 6 pass deflections this past season. Muhammad totaled 46 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 interceptions and 16 pass deflections.

Alabama has not yet officially announced DeBoer as its next head coach.
