Alabama junior defensive lineman Raekwon Davis was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct in the second half against Missouri, for throwing multiple punches at a Missouri offensive lineman while he was on the ground at the end of the play.

While it did result in a 15-yard penalty, Davis certainly could have been ejected, and he was pulled from the game immediately by Nick Saban.

Here is a better look at the penalty.

It’s clear in the video Davis starts throwing left and right hooks as soon as he gets the Missouri lineman on the ground. The defensive lineman will likely get an earful from his coaching staff, and it remains to be seen whether or not the SEC will step in and take any action. Throwing punches is enough to get a player suspended, even if a flag was thrown when it happened.

Davis is one of the most important players on an extremely talented but relatively inexperienced Alabama defense, and went back into the game after Saban pulled him for a couple of plays.
