The infamous Alabama t-shirt — not affiliated with the University of Alabama — featuring the phrase “Our OJ only killed Clemson” has been pulled from TeePublic.com, according to AL.com.

The shirt featured an obvious reference to former USC Heisman Trophy winner O.J. Simpson and Alabama tight end O.J. Howard. Simpson was accused of killing his wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. He was acquitted in 1995, despite being found liable for the wrongful death of and battery against Goldman, and battery against Brown in by a civil jury in 1997.

Howard enjoyed a breakout performance against Clemson in the College Football Playoff national championship. He recorded 208 yards and two touchdowns, including a 51-yard score that gave Alabama a lead it held for the remainder of the fourth quarter.

TeePublic.com is a website that allows users to upload their work and be sold, according to chief operating officer Adam Schwartz, who spoke with AL.com this week.

“TeePublic is an open platform that enables designers from around the world to host and sell their own artwork,” Schwartz told AL.com this week. “We do not actively police artwork uploaded to the platform and we strictly follow DMCA laws, which outlines the take-down procedures we adhere to.”

However, a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) was sent to the site, Schwartz later confirmed to AL.com. In this case, Clemson was warranted, not Southern Cal, that a user of a platform had infringed on its rights with a work.

The shirt was made in response to the USC campus bookstore’s release of a t-shirt featuring the phrase “Roll Tears Roll” in the Trojan’s cardinal and yellow colors.
