Football is a dangerous game. Sometimes, those that aren’t playing in a game or actively practicing might find themselves in the middle of the action.
That’s what happened to Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek on Saturday while watching the Razorbacks football team scrimmage with just 3 weeks to go before their season opener against Rice in Fayetteville. Somehow, Yurachek caught a cleat to his face, most noticeably on his nose and above his mouth. Exactly what led to it happening wasn’t immediately clear.
Ironically, as Yurachek noted in a Tweet showing the injury (which you can view below), head coach Sam Pittman’s message to the team before the scrimmage centered around toughness.
Prior to this morning’s @RazorbackFB scrimmage @CoachSamPittman talked about toughness. AD leading by example after taking a cleat to the face on the sidelines. #OneRazorback pic.twitter.com/eWKRSrXnuc

Here was the response to the Yurachek tweet moments later by the Razorback football team’s Twitter account:

Fortunately, it wasn’t a serious injury for Yurachek, and hopefully, he will heal up quickly. But that’s sure to leave a mark for a while.
