Arkansas men’s basketball got some good news on Wednesday regarding one of its recruits and his eligibility for this season.

Smith, a 5-star combo guard out of North Little Rock, Arkansas who committed to the Razorbacks in September, transferred from Sylvan Hills, but was initially ruled ineligible. However, the North Little Rock School District and Pulaski County Special School District signed a joint statement that will allow Smith to play his senior season at North Little Rock.

For context, in August, the Arkansas Activities Association notified the NLRSD that it needed to investigate potential recruiting violations that were reported by the PCSSD, Hawg Sports reported.

However, any potential infraction did not appear to be of any fault of Smith or his family. With the NLRSD and PCSSD coming together and signing the necessary documentation on Wednesday, Smith has now been deemed eligible.

“This matter has cast light on systemic issues in the AAA in the interpretation and application of its rules,” the letter stated.
