Arkansas forward Makhi Mitchell will return for the 2023-24 season.

The senior big man announced on his Instagram page Tuesday evening that he’ll return for a second season with the Razorbacks. Mitchell’s twin brother, Makhel, entered the transfer portal last month. The brothers signed with Maryland in the 2019 class, transferred to Rhode Island together in 2020, then moved to Arkansas together last offseason.

Makhel has yet to reveal a transfer destination, but it seems for the time being the brothers are set to play on different teams for the first time in their college careers.

Mitchell was 1 of 4 Razorbacks to play all 36 games last season. He started 31 times and averaged 7.0 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. He led the team with 49 blocks.

It’s an important piece for coach Eric Musselman to get back. Though not a true center, Mitchell will provide a veteran experience to help as 4-star 2023 signee Baye Fall makes the transition from high school to college.

The Hogs are also getting Trevon Brazile and Jalen Graham back for next season. Musselman has added 5 transfer commitments so far, all from guards.
