You can add another name to the growing list of Southeastern Conference players in the NCAA transfer portal.

Arkansas rising senior punter Blake Johnson is the newest name on the list following a junior season that saw the Razorback specialist punt the ball just seven times. Johnson had punted the ball 59 times as a sophomore in 2017. He arrived in Fayetteville from Los Alamitos High School of Long Beach, Calif., rated as the nation’s No. 2 high school punter.

Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network was the first to report that Johnson was listed in the NCAA transfer portal. Johnson is currently listed in 247Sports’ transfer portal database.

Johnson joins defensive back Nate Dalton and quarterbacks Cole Kelley and Ty Storey as players on Arkansas’ 2018 team that have entered the portal. New Razorback quarterback Ben Hicks used it as a method to transfer from SMU to Fayetteville for the 2019 season.

Last season, freshman Reid Bauer took over the majority of the Razorbacks punting duties from Johnson, which likely lead to this decision. It should be noted that once a player is listed in the transfer portal, he can come back to school. Entering the portal does not officially end a player’s career with his current program.
