Arkansas is turning to Hagen Smith in Wednesday’s do-or-die game. Smith, a left-hander, will get the start in the College World Series semifinals against Ole Miss (6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Smith has made 19 appearances in 2022, logging 72.1 innings. He has a 6-2 record with a 4.85 ERA. It will be Smith’s 15th start, his first since May 14 against Vanderbilt.

Smith has some familiarity facing Ole Miss. On April 30, Smith went 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in a 6-3 Arkansas victory. The Razorbacks need a win over the Rebels Wednesday to force an elimination game Thursday. If Ole Miss wins, the Hogs are eliminated.

Smith’s longest outing of the season was 7 innings against LSU on April 15, when he gave up just 2 hits in a 4-0 Arkansas win. His season-high in strikeouts came in the Southeastern Louisiana game on March 5 when he recorded 9 Ks. Smith last pitched on June 12 against North Carolina, allowing an earned run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings.
