Sam Mbake is reportedly seeking a new opportunity.

Riley McFerran of HawgBeat was first to report that Mbake was dismissed from the Arkansas Razorbacks. McFerran notes that Mbake has been off the team for a couple of weeks, last appearing in the game notes for the Nov. 11 contest against Auburn. Otis Kirk of Pig Trail Nation adds that Mbake will enter the transfer portal.

A Kennesaw, Georgia native, Mbake was a sought-after recruit out of North Cobb. Mbake was rated 4-stars, the No. 44 Peach State prospect, No. 62 wide receiver and No. 421 player overall in the Class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. Mbake picked up scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee and others before signing with Arkansas.

Mbake played in 9 games of the 2022 season as a freshman, primarily logging snaps on special teams. His roster bio notes that he spent time on defense in the secondary last season before switching back to wide receiver.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Mbake suffered a season-ending knee injury during a fall camp scrimmage. He will have 3 remaining seasons of eligibility.
