Arkansas missed out on the sweepstakes for one transfer quarterback, but the Razorbacks could soon be in the mix for another.

SMU quarterback Ben Hicks is transferring from the program, according to a report from HawgSports, 247Sports.com’s Arkansas website. He will be eligible to play as a graduate transfer next year, and there’s a chance he could want to reconnect with his former coach.

Hicks called signals in Chad Morris’ final two years at SMU, so the pair certainly has a bit of a rapport. After the Razorbacks spent most of the season shuffling quarterbacks and failed to sign high-profile transfer quarterback Kelly Bryant, Hicks would have a solid chance to step in and start right away.

He finished his SMU career as the program’s career record-holder for several stats, including passing yards (9,081), passing touchdowns (71) and completions (718). Arkansas fans should keep a close eye on his transfer decision over the coming weeks.
