Malik Hornsby has made a decision about his Arkansas future after Sam Pittman earlier this season reaffirmed his commitment to the quarterback.

Hornsby thanked Pittman and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, but wrote on social media that he would enter his name in the transfer portal.

Hornsby appeared in 5 games for the Razorbacks, and had the most production against LSU and Mississippi State.

He finished the regular season 13-for-27 passing for 268 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Hornsby has been discussed often throughout the season, and Pittman in August suggested that Arkansas restructured its practices to give him an opportunity at wide receiver or quarterback.

“I’ve told him that we need him on the field,” Pittman said. “He has to earn the right to get on the field, but we need him on the field. We’ve got a plan for it. I hope it works and I feel like it will.”

However, nearly 2 months ago, Hornsby deleted all references to Arkansas on his Instagram profile, which fueled speculation about a possible transfer. And he was briefly passed on the depth chart by Cade Fortin, as Pittman explained: “He’s our No. 2 quarterback, so we put him in there.”
