Paul Finebaum weighs in on Arkansas’ commitment to Sam Pittman: ‘It’s one of the toughest calls’
Paul Finebaum weighed in on Arkansas’ decision to commit to Sam Pittman despite what has been a disappointing season.
On Sunday after Arkansas’ win over FIU, Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek released a statement telling Razorbacks’ fans that Pittman will be the coach for at least the 2024 season.
Finebaum believes that Yurachek made the right call by committing to Pittman, citing Arkansas strong foundation under Pittman despite a rocky few seasons. But Finebaum also said that next season will be Pittman’s hot-seat moment.
“I think Hunter Yurachek made the right call,” Finebaum said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “I think Arkansas has a foundation under Sam Pittman. I’m not impressed with what I’ve seen from Sam Pittman the last 2 years, and that comes, like you guys, from someone who genuinely likes him, admires him, respects him. But it’s pretty obvious, Sam Pittman better win next year or he’ll be gone, and I think that’s self explanatory. It’s one of the toughest calls.”
Pittman has led Arkansas to a 4-7 season and he’s looking to pick up another win on Saturday against a tough Missouri team.
