Sam Pittman has had a rocky few years at Arkansas, but one thing has remained consistent during that time.

Quarterback KJ Jefferson has been a standout for Arkansas the past few season, and he’s closing in a few career records as the season nears an end. He has recorded 7,618 yards and 64 touchdowns since joining Arkansas in 2019.

On Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference, Pittman spoke to Jefferson’s tremendous career and what potentially breaking some career records means for the quarterback.

“I think he is playing as well as he’s played Saturday. I think that’s the key there,” Pittman said. “Setting records is over longevity obviously, but when you’re playing well and setting records, I think it means even more. What a nice game he had Saturday. But for the program, obviously I think he was a big key and has been, I know he is, and a reason for turning the program around, and certainly this year has been disappointing with all the close losses, but our season’s not over, and he’s been as valuable as anybody that we’ve had in our program, and very happy that he’s our quarterback.”

Jefferson led Arkansas to a big win over Florida on Saturday, recording 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Now, Arkansas is looking to close out its season on a high note and pick up a few more wins.

The Razorbacks take on Auburn this week before wrapping up the season against FIU and Missouri.
