Sam Pittman admitted that Arkansas football is not doing a good enough job of protecting for QB KJ Jefferson Monday afternoon.

The Razorbacks have lost 4 in a row and now have to travel to Tuscaloosa to take on an Alabama team playing better football than all but perhaps Georgia in the SEC right now.

And while Arkansas may not be protecting Jefferson as it should according to Pittman, he also admitted that Jefferson might be pressing too much trying to make a play.

“I do believe that he could really thrive and shine if we just protected him a little bit better. If you notice in the games, if he does have protection, we’re able to throw and catch well. When he doesn’t, not so much,” Pittman said. “I think that’s with everybody. But I think he wants to be Superman and I think he’s probably pressing a little bit too much right now to make a play.”

The Razorbacks’ early season slate was brutal and went downhill following their loss to BYU. After Alabama, however, the schedule lightens up.

Jefferson has thrown for exactly 1,300 yards with 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this season. He’ll face off against one of the top defenses in the country this Saturday at Noon on ESPN.
