Arkansas’ quarterback situation will be closely monitored up until kickoff against Alabama this week as starter Feleipe Franks tries to come back from a rib injury that kept him out of the Missouri game.

“Feleipe has practiced, we are still waiting to see how he’s feeling,” coach Sam Pittman said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “He’s not 100 percent, we will continue to practice, give him time to heal up and make a game-time decision. there is potential to play both quarterbacks, assuming Feleipe can play.”

Pittman added that the Razorbacks have confidence in Hayden Henry as long as Grant Morgan is not able to play at linebacker, even though Morgan is a leader on the team.

Pittman mentioned that he thought Arkansas was over the Mizzou loss on Monday, but Tuesday’s practice was not very good.

“I addressed that with our players and our coaches and I think we’ll have a better one this week,” Pittman said.

While Alabama has multiple Heisman Trophy contenders, Pittman offered an interesting nomination for the award.

“I don’t think they ask a first-year coach, former offensive line coach, but if I had a vote, I’d vote their entire offensive line,” Pittman said of the Crimson Tide.

Speaking of Heisman contenders, Pittman on star WR DeVonta Smith, said, “He’s fast, catches anything near to him, breaks out of routes and he is hard to get on the ground… I can tell he enjoys to play the game, he brings energy to his team, he’s an All-American guy. Very impressed by him.”
