Sam Pittman says Arkansas players know who will start at QB

Arkansas may enter its season-opener against Georgia without having publicly named a starting quarterback, but that doesn’t mean the Razorbacks have a QB controversy.
On Tuesday, first-year coach Sam Pittman was asked about the Hogs’ quarterback situation. He indicated that to the team, there is already a clear starter as one quarterback is working with the 1s and another with the second string.
Earlier this month, Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles said the starting quarterback job was Florida graduate transfer Feleipe Franks’ to lose. Franks has been an SEC starting quarterback in 3 seasons (2017-19). In UF’s disastrous 2017 season, Franks was benched multiple times but won the starting job in the first year under Dan Mullen (2018). In 2018, Franks was 188-of-322 passing for 2,457 yards, 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also ran the ball 110 times in 2018 for 350 yards and 7 TDs. Last season, Franks suffered a season-ending injury in the third game of the year.
Arkansas hosts Georgia on Sept. 26 to open the 2020 season.
“We may have already named a QB starter… we just haven’t told anybody. I don’t know if I’m going to make a public announcement of who our QB is. Our team knows, that’s what matters.”

Pittman: We may have named a starting QB already, but we may just not have told anybody yet. We got a guy playing with the 1s & a guy playing with the 2s. I may not make a public announcement on QB1 but my team knows who it is and that’s all that matters.
